This presentation covers the full spectrum of end-of-life care options available in New Mexico, including continuing treatment and medical aid in dying, for those who meet legal requirements. It includes a detailed overview of the Elizabeth Whitefield End-of-Life Options Act, enacted in 2021, highlighting essential aspects and recent legislative changes. Note that this seminar specifically addresses end-of-life care options available in New Mexico, but all are welcome and invited to participate.
Presenters:
Beverly Gholson is an End of Life educator with End Of Life Options New Mexico, where she has volunteered for over three years. She is also a certified Death Midwife and serves on the Advisory Board of the National Association of Certified Death Midwives.
Sherry Burns is a board member and client support volunteer chair for End of Life Options New Mexico. In addition to EOLONM, Sherry also volunteers at a community-model hospice in Santa Fe. She completed her end-of-life doula training at the University of Vermont, Larner School of Medicine. Her passion is supporting clients as they make their way through their end-of-life journey, and specifically, providing bedside care for individuals choosing Medical Aid in Dying.
