CHRISTUS St. Vincent 2026 – 2028 Community Health Needs Assessment: Life Span Area: Older Adult Health - Priority Indicators:
- Fall-related Deaths
- Social Isolation
Falling is one of the leading causes of unintended injury and death for adults 65 and over in New Mexico.
An aging body means a non-injury in your 40s would be far more severe in your 70s. Preventing falls for older adults is not an option but a life-saving strategy. Falls are the leading cause of death in our older community, and many can be prevented. Join Ann, Maria, and Katie to discuss falls and learn how to age without injury.
This workshop helps reduce fear of falling and increase activity levels, focusing on:
- The importance of an exercise routine
- The importance of speaking up and being assertive
- Reviewing medications, hearing, and vision issues
- Positive interaction with healthcare providers and family
